Philippines has a lot to offer in terms of island hopping. Two of the islands that you can possibly hop in and enjoy are Cebu and Negros (Occidental - west side). What I did was from Cebu City (main city of former) going to Bacolod City (main city of the latter) and vice versa. This route has various sceneries and activities that you will definitely take considerable pleasure in.

Bacolod City Ceres Bus Terminal Toledo- San Carlos route |
Approximate TRAVEL TIME: 6-7 hours
TWO WAYS in traveling to the islands.
1. Go to Cebu North Bus Terminal for CERES BUS Liner package from CEBU TO BACOLOD.
The convenient and longer way is to go to Cebu Bus North Terminal and ride the CERES BUS.
- CERES BUS LINERS is a convenient and comfortable vehicle that has already new buses with toilets and reclining seats for long travels such as this. They also offer a hassle-free ride by including on the fare the ship fee so you do not need to alight and transfer in different vehicles. (though in case of boarding the ship, you need to use their seats to enjoy the view and wind breeze instead of being suffocated inside the bus.) P505 per head excluding the port terminal fee.
- By using this, you will board a barge as the bus will be transported. But it will take 2 hours to get to the island.
2. Go to Cebu South Bus Terminal and ride on the ordinary bus in going to Toledo
You have the choice to transfer and use different vehicles aside from CERES Bus. The advantages of this is that you have
- the freedom to select the fees,
- type of bus/ship and
- the schedule/time.
From Cebu South Bus Terminal, there were no CERES buses at around 4am. In order for us to get to Toledo Port early to catch the first ship, we decided to use the ordinary bus which was only P60 per head.
Then, you can use FAST CRAFT marine vessel which takes only 1 hour to travel. It is only P150 - regular adult fee.
This is also similar in going from Bacolod City to Cebu City.
- Go to Bacolod South Bus Terminal located in Libertad.
- Ride a CERES Bus with a signage Cebu via Don Salvador.
- Then, pay terminal fee at San Carlos Port for P20/head.
- Alight either in Cebu South Bus Terminal or Cebu North Bus Terminal.

Tips:
- Check the schedule of the bus and ferry of each terminal/port or company. - This can help you manage your time and save money to avoid waiting and/or renting a hotel/buying food just for the next trip.
- Best time from Cebu City is the early morning at 4am. Why?Sunrise watching while traveling. In Don Salvador, you can feel the cool breeze of the mountains. It is like Baguio of the Philippines.
- From Bacolod, catch the last trip of the bus which is 2:30pm. So you can a bit travel in the city before coming home.
